Netanyahu to Hezbollah: You will pay a very heavy price
Fady Mahouly
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday threatened Hezbollah to pay a "very heavy price," stressing that Israel will not tolerate any targeting of its soldiers or its lands, following the attack that led to the killing of the commander of the 52nd Armored Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gedalia Ben Shimoun, and three other soldiers.
Netanyahu considered that the attack constituted a "flagrant violation" of the ceasefire, revealing that he had instructed the Israeli army to respond "with full force."
Netanyahu said that the Israeli army targeted more than 80 sites belonging to Hezbollah, before launching raids this morning on the party’s sites in the Bekaa region, noting that he conducted an assessment of the situation with the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff.
He stressed that his directives require continuing to thwart any threat targeting Israeli forces or lands, stressing that Israel will remain within what he described as the “security zone” in southern Lebanon as long as it deems this necessary to protect the towns of the north.
